Solo

Oxford has an active fleet of Solos, the single hander that’s a proper boat!

Suitable for a wide range of ages and weights this is a versatile and satisfying boat to sail that has the bonus of comfort and construction in a variety of materials from GRP, and foam composite for the maintainophobes to beautifully crafted and satisfying wooden boats that can be home or professionally built to standards varying from the simply functional to "furniture" quality that add pride of ownership to the joys of simply sailing.

A boat that is easy to sail, but difficult to sail really well, it suits and satisfies all standards from the novice to the truly expert.

Flexibility in choice of mast, boom, sail cut, means that the boat is suitable for people in the 10st > 17st weight range and at varying levels of fitness.

Craft are available at costs that vary from a few hundred pounds for a serviceable boat that will give plenty of fun and experience upwards. A well known builder Tony Thresher lives locally at Appleton and occasionally sails at Oxford.

If your looking for a singlehander and don’t fancy the Laser this is a boat and fleet to give serious consideration to.

Contact me Bob Ashby, fleet captain, for more information and advice if you think this might be the boat for you, or catch me in red Solo 3550 "HERBERT".
